Shirley Mildred Price Wednesday August 11th 2021

Shirley M. Price
March 4, 1944 – August 11, 2021
It is with deep sadness that the family of Shirley Price (nee Drover) announces her peaceful passing at the age of 77 at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre in Gander. She leaves to mourn with many fond memories, her son Shawn Price (Kim Price); daughter Lana Price (Rick Malcolm); grandchildren Dylan, Ethan and Lily; and her partner and friend, Max Kean.
Also leaving to mourn are her brothers Randy Drover (Nancy), Bill Drover (Mary); sisters Sandra Lundrigan (Johnny), Francis Vaters (Don), Ruth Clarke (Malcolm), and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Predeceased by her husband Lester Price (2004); parents William and Beatrice Drover, sisters Clarice Mercer (Nat), Millicent Miller (Cec) and Beatrice Snow (Jack).
Mom grew up in Upper Island Cove in Conception Bay North and came to Gander as a young woman in the mid-sixties to learn and practice hairdressing. It was during that time that she met dad; married and started a family. In earlier years, we spent many summers camping throughout NL and the Maritimes; mom also enjoyed spending time at her cabin with dad and her friends skidooing, visiting and playing cards. It was her local getaway.
Mom spent many years working with the Liquor Store here in town and worked alongside some great people, whom she kept in touch with long after retirement. She also spent many years unselfishly attending to dad’s care while he was dealing with chronic illness. But there was also time for visits and sleepovers with the grandchildren. Lots of home cooked meals and Christmas’s spent together enjoying the holidays and company.
In recent years, she and Max spent time travelling to far off locations around the world. She took pride in her home and garden. She enjoyed quilting and made numerous beautiful quilts and wall hangings that we will display and enjoy for many years to come.
We are grateful to all those friends and relatives who have called, messaged or asked about mom these last few months. We appreciate your thoughtfulness.
A thank you to mom’s neighbours who kindly brought us food and baked goods on a regular basis. You made a difficult time much easier. It helped to know you were thinking of us.
We would like to express a special thanks to mom’s home support workers, Marcie, Phyllis and Cavelle for the care and help provided to mom and our family this winter and spring. Also we owe gratitude and thanks to Dr. Dicks for all of his help and guidance during this time and the nursing staff at Palliative care/surgical for their exemplary care of mom in her final weeks.
In keeping with mom’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Stacey’s Funeral Home on Saturday August 14, 2021 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. A private family service will be held by invitation only. Interment to take place at All Saints Cemetery on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 3:30p.m.
In lieu of flowers; donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society; or a charity of one’s choice.
The loss is immeasurable; but so is the love left behind. — Unknown
