Montcalm, Shirley Elizabeth (née Hotte)
Shirley Montcalm, née Hotte, of Maberly, ON passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 18, 2021 at the Rideaucrest Home in Kingston, ON.
Her passing is mourned by her loving husband, Richard J. Montcalm. She was cherished mother of daughter Sara Montcalm Jacobson (Neihls Jacobson) and son Richard G. Montcalm (Atsuko Suganomata); proud grandmother of Tove and Jonas Jacobson and Yamato and Koyuki Montcalm. All will miss her playful barbs and invite anyone reminiscing her to “go jump in the lake.”
Shirley was pre-deceased by her father Lionel, mother Madaleine, sister Mary Ann (Norm) Wortley, parents-in-law George and Anna Montcalm, and brothers-in-law Paul (Kathy) and Claude (Pam) Montcalm.
Shirley is survived by her brother, Paul (Faye) Hotte, and Joan Robertson.
Shirley will be missed by Paulette and Pete Amsden, Carl and Barb Montcalm, Anita and Darryl Berry, Theresa and Brian Campeau, Mark and Diane Montcalm, Pam and Todd Bested, Pam Montcalm, Mike and Nathalie Montcalm, Kathy Montcalm, and many, many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in River Canard, ON, Shirley moved to London where she worked and raised her two children to put her husband through school. The family moved to Timmins, ON soon after to hang a shingle and test themselves against the elements.
Shirley and Rick later retired to Silver Lake in Maberly, ON to enjoy the lilacs and be nearer to family.
Visitation Friday July 23, 2021, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7 pm – 9pm. On Saturday, July 24, 2021 a Celebration of Shirley’s life will take place at 11 am at Families First, 2130 Front Rd., LaSalle, 519-969-5841. You can reserve your time for visitation or seat for the service at FamiliesFirst.ca (RSVP) or by calling directly. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
