Shirley Rosaline Bennefield
Shirley was born on January 5, 1937 in Battleford, Saskatchewan where she grew up in a family of five brothers and two sisters, She met and married Calvin Bennefield on September 28, 1954 and they settled in Wetaskiwin, Alberta where they had six children.
Shirley enjoyed a life filled with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; coaching softball and Brownies, playing Bingo, knitting, watching curling and spending time with family and good friends. For Shirley it was always the right time to share stories and catch up on the latest news.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, Calvin (Laurie) Bennefield, Susan (Ken) L’Hirondelle, Kathy (Chris) VanOstrand, John (Jamie) Bennefield; sons-in-law, Barry Rasmussen, Larry Buskas; eleven grandchildren, Jessica, Brandon, Lynelle, Danielle, Natasha, Elena, Tara, Trevor, Cody, Danton, Ryley; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Ann (Jim) Smart; brothers, Allan (Loni) Smart and Russell (Edith) Smart; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Calvin (Buster) Bennefield; daughters, Donna Buskas and Toni Rasmussen; grandchildren, Juliana Vanderberg and Jared L’Hirondelle; great-grandchild, Georgia Rae Vanderberg.
Respecting Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Cancer Society or to the Diabetes Society.
