Shelley DeBussac 2021

Shelley’s Obituary
The family of the late Shelley De Bussac sadly announce her passing on February 4, 2021, in Canora, SK, at the age of 61 years.
Shelley was born to Gerald and Patricia (Fiddler) Wadlow on July 9, 1959, in Prince Albert, SK.
In 1981, with her first husband, Shelley moved to Moose Jaw, SK, to work as a loans officer at the Royal Bank. While in Moose Jaw, she gave birth to her first daughter, Leshia, in October of 1981.
One year later, in 1982, Shelley returned to Whelan Bay, SK, to be closer to family. From there, she moved to Prince Albert. Her heart was always there as that was where she met her first husband.
In 1984, Shelly began her career in corrections at the Pinegrove Provincial Correctional Centre, in Prince Albert, SK. That same year, she gave birth to her second daughter, Jeri-Ann.
In 1991, Shelley was one of the first three women hired at the Federal Penitentiary and had to more than prove herself throughout training. She persevered and went on to become the co-creator and organizer of the Multicultural Division at the Penitentiary, alongside Marge Ninaar. Her career also led her to working at the Riverbend Institution and the Willow Cree Healing Lodge. After years of service, Shelley settled into retirement in 2017. In addition to her career in correctional centers, she was part owner of the Moo Cow ice-cream truck.
Shelley met her soulmate and the love of her life, Dennis De Bussac, for the first time on March 19, 1992, when they shared their first dance together. They were married two years later, in 1994.
Shelley took pride in being a Metis woman and accomplished a lot throughout her years. Her efforts did not go unnoticed and in 1997, she was prestigiously awarded the title as Prince Albert’s “Citizen of the Year.”
Family was important to Shelley and she enjoyed the time they spent together. With her daughters, she attended her first and last concerts, New Kids on the Block and Garth Brooks. She was a very proud supporter of her family and all activities they were involved in. More than anything, she beamed with pride as she became a grandmother to Daniel, David, Bailey, Hadley, and her whole world changed with the birth of her miracle grandson, Deagen. She was also an excited, expectant great-grandmother.
With such a warm, fun personality, undoubtedly, Shelley was the life of the party. She was very much a ‘fashionista’ and a sun goddess. She was known to be seen cruising around with her daughters in her 924 Porsche, blasting songs from Wilson Phillips, Roxette, and M.C. Hammer. She enjoyed gardening, primping flowers around the yard, and loved the outdoors – fishing, golfing, camping, and skidooing. Shelley also loved to bake, especially buns and sweets.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Shelley is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dennis DeBussac; daughters, Jeri-Ann (Arlen) and Leshia (Cory); stepson, Deon (Dail); grandchildren: Daniel (Mackenzie), David, Deagen, Bailey, and Hadley; siblings: Linda, Carol, and Edward; and her BBF, Mary-Lou; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Shelley’s family wishes to express their appreciation and extend a special thank you to the Ronald McDonald House. Shelley was always very thankful to this organization for their care and involvement in the life of her grandson, Deagen.
-To know her was to love her. –
A Celebration of Shelley’s Life will take place on July 8, 2021.
