Shelby’s Obituary
Shelby Alexa Dawn Brandon was born in Surrey, BC on May 01, 1991. She passed away suddenly on November 14, 2021, at the age of 30 years.
Shelby grew up in the Surrey and North Delta areas of British Columbia. She later moved briefly to Canora, Saskatchewan before returning to Surrey, BC.
As a young girl, Shelby enjoyed playing teacher for hours to her grandparents, and aunty and uncle. She was quite strict, and no one got away with anything.
Throughout her childhood years, Shelby enjoyed BMX bike racing, sports, travel and especially family. She loved the big city but also enjoyed the quiet of small-town Saskatchewan, where she enjoyed fishing and looking at the Northern Lights.
Shelby was fortunate to travel to Hawaii, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Reno, and many places in Canada, as well as Japan, Spain, and Europe.
Shelby’s love of animals started at an early age. If it breathed, she loved it – earning her the nickname of Elmira from the Looney Tunes!
She graduated from Seaquam Secondary High School in 2009. From there, she had many different jobs before settling into a career as a Health Care Aid. She loved caring for the elderly people, and they became like family to her.
Shelby had a heart for the hurting and downtrodden. She also loved telling people how Jesus changed her life and that He would do the same for anyone.
If you were blessed to have crossed paths with her and become her friend, she was loyal to the end. Once she made her mind up about someone or something, it could rarely be changed.
Shelby loved to joke around, have fun, and had a great sense of humor. She could often be found phoning you to tell you some corny joke she heard. She was always up for an adventure, whether it be berry picking in the bush, flying in an airplane, or looking for deer or moose horns.
Shelby was newly engaged to Glenn and was enthusiastically planning her “happily ever after”.
Shelby is survived by her fiancé, Glenn Ahnert, her father, Dave Brandon, her mother Crystal MacNaughton and her stepfather, Troy MacNaughton, as well as all her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and so many friends.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at White Rock Baptist Church, Surrey, BC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK.
