Sheila Catherine Hanlon BA ED
January 8, 1929 – December 18, 2021
It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved sister, aunt and friend at Tiffany Village. Predeceased by her parents, William and Ethel Humphries of Melrose Trinity Bay, her loving husband, James Hanlon; sister, Catherine Humphries; brother, William (Lena) and their daughter, Denise. Leaving to mourn, her devoted sister, Mary Goodyear RN; nieces and nephews and their families, Pat (Sharon), Darren (Lori), Gary (Betty), Roddy (Trudy), Michele (Gary), Lori Ann (Marty) and Maureen (Ed) along with her wonderful friends, Joan, Kay, Clara, Cynthia, Theresa, and many more. Sheila was an accomplished artist and enjoyed travelling, fly fishing on the Gander River and entertaining in their summer-home in North River. A retired teacher, she graduated from St. Brides College Littledale and Memorial University. Having taught at various schools, ending her career at Our Lady of Mercy School in St. John’s, she was a mentor to many students across Canada and the USA including Kelly M.D. in Arizona. Special thanks to the staff at Tiffany Village, to Dr. M. Penton, to Marie Coady and Cindy Townsley for their diligent care and having added to her longevity and to Elizabeth Dillon for her dedication – it meant the world to her. Sincere appreciation as well to Fr. Bolton from St. Pius X Parish – you were very special in her life. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am on Thursday, December 23, 2021 from St. Pius X Church on Smithville Crescent with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of a visitation at this time, a celebration of Sheila’s life will take place at a later date. No flowers by request but a donation in her memory to the Gathering Place would be greatly appreciated.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Sheila Catherine Hanlon BA ED 2021..
