Sharon Ida Gertrude Wesolowsky nee Horning July 8 1937 November 20 2021

Obituary
Sharon Ida Gertrude Wesolowsky (née Horning), July 8, 1937 – November 20, 2021, passed peacefully at Hampton Terrace Care Centre in Burlington, Ontario, in the company of dear old friends, after spending the day with friends and family, including her dancing and singing grand-daughters (despite their often questionable tastes in music). Having lost her mother at an early age, Sharon spent many years living with a number of foster families throughout Ontario and Quebec, where she happily added to her “extended” family as she went. She completed her nursing training at Montreal General Hospital, and after a stint working as a nurse in Boston and Australia, she obtained her Bachelor of Nursing Science at the University of Western Ontario, where she met her future husband George at a dance. They were married in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1967 and moved to Middleton, Wisconsin while George completed his Doctorate at the University of Wisconsin. While in Middleton they shared a farmhouse with Bob and Ingrid Love, who became dear life-long friends. Moving back to Canada in 1970, they settled in Aldershot where Sharon worked at Joseph Brant Hospital until the birth of their son Michael, in 1976. Sharon spent several years as a full-time mother before returning to nursing practice in Long Term Care, where she worked at several homes in the Hamilton-Burlington area, finally retiring at Hampton Terrace where she ultimately became a resident. She had always said that of all the care homes at which she had worked over the years, if she ever required residence in one, she had hoped it was Hampton Terrace.
She is survived by George, her husband of almost 55 years, sister Nancy (Ted) Little, son Michael (Julia) and grandchildren Natalia, Lesya, Maximus and Vera. Our family is very grateful for the outstanding care by staff and volunteers at Hampton Terrace, as well as the amazing support of the Best Care Agency, especially Leslie, who supported Sharon through much of the Covid lockdowns.
