Sharon Gasek Castner Thursday November 4th 2021

With broken hearts, but ones overflowing with love for her, we announce the passing of Sharon Louise Gasek (née Castner), 78, at home in Ottawa, Ontario, on November 4, 2021.
Sharon was born on July 19, 1943 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Despite living a majority of her adult life in Canada, a piece of her heart always remained in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies. She is survived by her siblings Larry, Maggi and her beloved sister, Patricia.
She married George Gasek in 1964 and fondly remembered their early married life adventures of university hopping around the United States before moving to Canada and eventually settling in Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia became their home for the next 40 years. Her daughters, Tanya and Rebecca, joined the family along the way; she was a devoted mother.
The family grew, first with her becoming a cherished “Munga” to her grandchildren Joren, Darian, and Eden, and then an adored “Munna” to Alexander and Julia, all of whom she was proud and loved dearly.
She loved her whole family fiercely and for us, she was both our anchor and our guiding light. We are each eternally grateful for all the ways she poured herself into our lives, and surrounded us with her unconditional love and support.
She found great strength and comfort in her faith which guided her throughout her life. Her church family meant so much to her, and she to them. Church (Immanuel Baptist in Truro in particular), various small groups and Bible studies all contributed to a network of friends and soul mates over her life. She was a source of comfort and a confidant to many.
We will forever hold her in our hearts and let her guide our steps in the direction of kindness, compassion, love and understanding. This is her abiding gift to us.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Sharon Gasek Castner Thursday November 4th 2021..
