Obituary of Sharon (Beaton) Hodder, N.W./Whitney Pier
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear mom, Sharon (Beaton) Hodder. Mom passed away at home February 24th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Mom was survived by her children, Karen, Tommy and her grandson, James. Mom was also survived by her siblings, Mary (Paul), Harold (Cecilia), Valerie (Steve), Lois (Ray), Lenny (Raylene); sister-in-law, Charlotte; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and many friends. Also, her special family from Newfoundland.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Tom, her mom and dad, James and Vincentine Beaton; her brothers, Jackie, Gordie.
Mom spent many years as an advocate for her son Tommy; she was one of the founding members of The Society for Treatment of Autism. Mom worked many jobs over her life, with her last job being Nightingale Nursing.
Mom was a very loving, compassionate, kind and funny woman. She made everyone in her presence smile. Mom will be greatly missed and greatly loved forever. ‘Til we meet again Mama. Fly high and dance with the stars.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A private Funeral Mass of celebration will be held at the Parish Church of St. Leonard with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford. Donations in her memory may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
