Sharon Chanas
April 17, 1943 – December 15, 2021
Suddenly on the afternoon of December 15, 2021 Sharon passed away surrounded by her family.
Predeceased by her parents Sam and Irene, and her dear husband Mike of 57 years. Those who remain to cherish her memory and live life by her example are her children Van (Shannon), Tanya (Ken), grandson Bryce, nephew Paul Mundt (Laurie), nieces Carolyn Cox, Shauna Chanas, Donna Chanas and Karen Walker. She will also be missed by her furry grandchildren, Agrippa, Minky, Suki, Loki and Kipper.
Mom instilled in us a love of family and always looked forward to family gatherings. She and Dad were always their happiest when they were surrounded by family and friends.
One of Mom’s greatest joys was her grandson Bryce. She and Dad looked forward to offering him every experience they could, from Kindermusik, MYTP, plays and symphonies to a trip to Europe. Mom loved seeing Bryce learn and grow in all that he did and celebrated his accomplishments.
Mom had a lengthy and successful career as an educator with Lord Selkirk School Division. Teaching grade 1, junior high and then moving into administration. She was devoted to her staff and students, always giving 100%.
The family is incredibly grateful to the firefighters, paramedics and staff at St. Boniface Hospital who did everything they could to help our mom.
Please join us in a Celebration of Life Service to be held at 1:00 p.m. on December 22, 2021 at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk, MB.
COVID Protocols: All in attendance are required to be fully vaccinated. Only those who can show proof of vaccination along with government issued ID will be permitted to attend. Face masks are mandatory.
