Obituary of Sergio Gentile
Sergio passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 76. He leaves behind his loving wife Gabriella Gentile. Loving father to Sabrina (Terry) Plumb, Roberto (Theresa) Gentile and Marianna Gentile. Proud Nonno of Nicolas, Ethan, Ryan, Julia, Ava and Evan.
Sergio was born in Molina Aterno, L’Aquila, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in July 1965 and was married March 30, 1967. He was the youngest of seven siblings. Sergio had a long career as a Class “A” Diesel Mechanic with Richvale/LaFarge/Innocon that spanned 45 years until his retirement in 2015. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, always telling a good story around the kitchen table and had a sharp wit. He enjoyed listening to opera, always filling the house on Saturday mornings. He was very handy around the house, always doing a renovation. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, build or grow. He enjoyed spreading his vast knowledge about all things science, history and geography to anyone who would listen. He loved being surrounded by his grandchildren and many hours were spent breaking bread together over the years. His memory will live on through his family until the end of time.
A private family service will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Woodbridge. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
In Sergio’s memory, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
