Obituary of Selma Eddy
Selma Leonida Eddy (nee Tarkpea) passed away peacefully in Chatham on November 13,2012 with Family at her side.
She was born on January 16, 1920 in Parnu , Estonia and emigrated to Canada during WW2 where she lived to a remarkable 101 plus years as wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to a growing Eddy family.
Selma was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Alec Louis Eddy. They settled primarily in Sarnia, Ontario living in many places around the city that were on or near the water which they both so much enjoyed.
Loving Mother of Mary Ann Dunlop and her husband Gary and Robert Eddy and his wife Rebecca.
Loving Grandmother of Mallory, Cassandra, and Tayla Eddy and Great Grandmother to Jove and Ashley Williams.
Selma enjoyed extensive travels abroad visiting far flung countries and places around the world with Louis.
She was a passionate boater through the many waterways of Ontario and winter skier to name some of her pursuits and shared these experiences with her family much of the time.
Selma’s long life lives on with happy memories and her contributions and loving impact that she made to all of us. She will be remembered always… and missed!
Following Selmas’ wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place with interment at a later date in Bear Creek Cemetery, Brigden and the wilderness of the North Channel,Ontario which she and Louis so dearly loved to visit. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Selma’s name are encouraged to please consider the Canadian Cancer Society.
A tree will be planted in memory of Selma at CM Wilson Conservation Area. A dedication service will be held in September of 2021.
