1954-2020
It is with heavy hearts and loving memories that we announce the passing of Sandra Caswell following a courageous battle against post stroke complications at the Kingston General Hospital on December 29, 2020. Sandy passed peacefully surrounded by her devoted husband and her beloved sons.
Sandy was predeceased by her parents Allan Derby and Elizabeth Bradley, her stepmother Gladys Cullen and her sister Carol Ganton. Sandy is survived by her loving husband Chris Caswell, her sons Matt Caswell (Rosa) and Scott Caswell (Alicia) and her sister Diane Olsen (Dave and nieces). Sandy’s legacy leaves behind five wonderful grandchildren, which were her world: Ryan, Evan, Jacob, Eden and Grace. She is also survived by Chris’ sister Diane Leveque (and her family), by her very dear friends: Maria, Barb, Debbie (the “Animals”) and many other great friends around the lake.
Sandy was a loving wife, mother, and grandma (Nana) who loved to spoil her kids and grandchildren and spend as much time with them as she could. She loved to cook and make everyone’s favorite meals at any family gathering at home, Ottawa or Montreal. Sandy loved to read with her view of the lake and beat Chris in scrabble on the deck. She will be greatly missed by all her family, friends and so many others who were impacted by her kind and generous spirit.
We want to thank the staffs at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and Kingston General Hospital for their hard work, kindness, and the amazing care that they provided Sandy in fighting her last tough physical battle. Sandy has always been brave and courageous over the years and is now resting in peace. Donations can be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
When conditions permit, a private service will be held at Trinity United Church in Verona, Ontario. A celebration of Sandy’s beautiful life will be held at a later date.
