Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Sandra Delwisch on September 10, 2021, at the Kelvindell Lodge in Kelvington, Saskatchewan. Sandra was born to Norman and Inez (nee Kullberg) Hanson on February 7, 1949. She grew up on the family farm SE of Archerwill in the Port Arthur District. She attended school in Archerwill for grades 1-12. After graduation she took the training to become a nurse. She worked as a nurse for a couple years, including a few months in Regina. While in Regina, Denis asked her to come back to Archerwill and marry him. She happily returned, and they were married August 28, 1971, in the Nut Lake Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with four children Tyler, Brad, Shelley, and Amanda. When Tyler was born, Sandra stayed home to take care of the kids. In 1985 she returned to nursing until her retirement in 2015.
Sandra had many hobbies; she loved to garden, she was an avid curler until she no longer felt comfortable on the ice, and after that she watched curling whenever she could whether it was local or televised. Her other TV viewing varied but lately it consisted of The Price Is Right, Highway to Heaven and Murder She Wrote. She also loved to “old-time” dance.
Sandra loved helping others, as a nurse, as a mother and a grandmother. Family was her pride and joy. Her and Denis took many trips to Alberta to visit her family and watch the grandkid’s activities. Sandra was an excellent cook and baker. Always having butter tarts and many other treats when her family came to visit.
Sandra will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 50 Years DENIS; 4 children; and 11 grandchildren:
Tyler (Erin) and children Derek, Kennedy, and Carson;
Brad (Brittney) and children Locke and Codi;
Shelley (David) and children Aidan, Tanner, and Alexis;
Amanda (Devin) and children Jaysa, Ashton, and Quynn;
also, by her sisters and brother: Jeannette, Ted (Debra), and Norma (Al); sisters and brothers-in-law Glen (Lillian), Mervin (Linda), Alan (Terry), Kathy (Leo); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents Norman and Inez Hanson; her parents-in-law Helen and Joseph Zimmer; her brothers-in-law David and Ernie and sister-in-law Sylvia.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18th at 2 pm at the Archerwill Centennial Centre. Memorial donations in Sandra’s memory may be directed to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.
