Lindsay, Sandra Grace (Keddy) – Promoted to Glory on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Guelph General Hospital after a short illness. Sandra of Kitchener, formerly of Truro, Scarborough, Thunder Bay, Flin Flon, Winnipeg, Montreal, and many places in between, was 80 years of age.
Beloved wife of Doug Lindsay for 57 years. Dear mother of Ian (Kelley) of Andover, MN, Bruce (Dana) of Peterborough, Dawn (Phillip Dykeman) of Truro NS, and Heather (Derek Whitehouse) of Bradenton FL.
Proud Grandma of Eleanor, Isabel, Clifford (Hilary), Emma, Sarah, Thomas, Samuel, Lianna (Nathaniel Singer), Elijah, Victoria, Connor, Adrianna, Laura Grace and Carson.
Much loved sister of Jim Keddy (Carol) and the late Robert Keddy (surviving wife Eva) and Carol Simunic (Emil). (Think how much fun mom is having with her twin sister in heaven.) Daughter of the late Clifford and Della Keddy.
Sandra graduated from the Salvation Army College in Toronto, where she met Doug, and was posted to a church in Tweed and several other places. She had a long distance relationship with Doug who was posted in Maple Creek, SK. They married and began as assistant pastors in Winnipeg where Ian was born. They moved to pastor in Flin Flon, where Bruce was born. They later moved to Thunder Bay to pastor, where Dawn and Heather (twins) were born. In Thunder Bay, Sandra co-founded a church program for women, called “S&P” for Spiritual and Physical fitness. That program grew and became influential across Manitoba and Ontario. She continued the program in Scarborough at Highway Gospel Church and beyond. When Doug took a position at the Head Office of PAOC, Sandra earned her ECE and founded a successful nursery school program at Malvern Christian Assembly, a new church plant that she and Doug helped to establish. When they moved to Truro to pastor, she became a Family Skills Worker with the Department of Community Services. Her work impacted many families and was recognized by the Provincial government. Her influence continues to this day. Later in their ministry they moved to Kitchener, to work as missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Sandra worked as Coordinator for Recruitment and Care, a job she enjoyed until retirement. After retiring, the cottage at Braeside Camp became her special place of rest and family gatherings.
An avid quilter, Sandra’s goal was to make a quilt for each grandchild. The problem was that the grandchildren kept coming faster than she could produce quilts and she couldn’t keep up. She enjoyed sewing her whole life. She sewed for herself so she would be well dressed through her high school years. She took pride in sewing for her children and grandchildren (picture six of us in identical shirts). She could design and create anything. Sandra was a loving and caring home maker. She regularly would open her home to missionaries, evangelists, or anyone who needed a place to stay. The Lindsay home was an open door where you would be served delicious homemade food. Weekly, we had homemade bread, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and all sorts of pies.
Sandra and Doug had the privilege to travel many places. Summer vacations were a highlight for the family, in a station-wagon pulling a trailer. Together she and Doug visited several countries over the years.
An amazing Spirit filled woman of God, Sandra read her Bible daily, and enjoyed spending time in prayer. If you knew her, you can be sure she prayed for you. She claimed all of God’s promises for herself and her family. She practically knew the whole Hymnal by heart. As we began to lose her to dementia, we loved to sing with her and were amazed that she could still sing along. At times she would cry tears of joy and say “I remember!”
A memorial service will be held at Waterloo Pentecostal Assembly, 395 King Street, Waterloo, on Monday, November 15, at 11 a.m., with visiting one hour prior (10-11 a.m.). Due to COVID restrictions you must register your attendance at the memorial service through the following link:

It is a long story how I came across this page. My heart sank to hear that Sandra has left us, but am encouraged by our common faith which knows she is with our loving Saviour! I have many fond memories of her welcoming me into your home as a teenager!
