Obituary For Ruth (nee Webber) Wutzke
Ruth (nee Webber) Wutzke, resident of Beaverlodge, AB, formerly of Berwyn/Peace River, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, peacefully at her home, at the age of 88 years.
Ruth was born on October 17, 1933, to the Webber family. She grew up on a farm in Berwyn, working alongside her mother, sister, and brothers during the great depression. Ruth took great pride in hard work and perseverance with the Lord’s help. On June 10th, 1953, Ruth married Carl Wutzke of Berwyn. They went on to build their own Ranch in Hines Creek, AB, called Montagneuse River Ranch, raising two children there. In 1981, they built their ranch home on Saskatoon Mountain, which Ruth maintained independently until her last day.
Ruth was an avid gardener. During a missionary trip to Ghana, she amazed the locals by successfully cultivating a crop of fruits such as papaya, pineapples, and coconuts from seed. She was an accomplished organist, playing for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hines Creek for many years. Ruth was also an artist, preferring landscape painting, but always having an eye for detail and the unique. She even taught a painting class for women in the community between 1975-1980.
Ruth will be sadly missed by her children Melanie Wutzke-McColm and Douglas Wutzke; grandchildren: Jason (Darla) Wutzke, Stewart Wutzke, Jaime (Josh) Farmer, Jeremiah Johnson and Joeni Fragadakis; great-grandchildren: Brenna Farmer, Keela Farmer, Halle Wutzke, Samara Wutzke, Christopher Rogers, and Amelia Rogers; sister Adeline Webber-Spilsted; her church family at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wembley led by Pastor Ken Eiffert; as well as Carl and Carol Mayer, long-time close friends and neighbors who were a great help to Ruth for many years.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Carl Wutzke; granddaughter Lisa Wutzke, brothers Joseph Webber and Raymond Webber; as well as mother Katherine York-Webber.
“Many miss the beauty of the land while looking for things money can buy” ~ Ruth Wutzke
“Perhaps, in Paradise, there will be treed pathways for me, peaceful and quiet, with only the leaves rustling, birds singing, as well as all kinds of lovely things to see” -Ruth Wutzke
Service information will be updated at a later date.
Memorial Donations may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church (Box 339, Wembley, AB, T0H 3S0).
