Ruth Evelyn Thomas
1949-2021
Ruth Evelyn Thomas – 72, of Centreville,
passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in the Valley Regional
Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville, she was the youngest daughter
of the late Alfred and Edith Jane (Schofield) Davison. Ruth grew up in
Greenfield, Nova Scotia as the baby of the family of 16 brothers and
sisters. She loved crafts and was an avid doll collector. She was
raised in a Christian home, and throughout her life, kept a true and
genuine believe in Jesus Christ, and lived the life to prove it. She
carried the love of God with her and brought it to everyone she
met. Ruth always wanted the best for people, and was always
ready to listen, to help, and to show compassion. She did not need to
be asked for help, she sought out people who needed someone to show
they cared. She walked holy before God, never tainted by the obstacles
of life, or the changing values of the world around her. As life
passed by, her health became an ever-growing burden – but
despite the pain she carried in her body, she never let it prevent her
from showing the love of Christ to others. When her pain became
greater than the possible joys of life, God stepped in and gave her an
exceeding great reward. She had a worn Bible that she read and carried
with her, but she does not need to read it anymore, because she is now
in the presence of The Word. She had constant pain in her body but was
healed of it all in a glorified body that only Jesus Christ can give,
and that lasts forever. Although the grief of missing her is
difficult, the knowledge that she is happy now without illness or pain
is greater than the grief of her loved ones. Ruth is survived by her
husband, Fenton “Joseph” Thomas; children, Joseph Thomas and
Ruth (Harlin) Joudrey; three surviving brothers; grandchildren, Missy
Croft (Justin Brannen), Jonathan Croft and Kelsey (Bruce) Parker; nine
great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. In
keeping with Ruth’s wishes there will be no visitation or
funeral service. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
