Ruth Dunham March 17th 1931 December 14th 2021

Peacefully, with her loving family by her side at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, Ruth Dunham passed away at the age of 90. Beloved wife of Orville “Tiny” Dunham for 70 years. Loving mother of Connie (William) Burke, Cathy Dunham (Darcy Kohut), and Steven (Romana) Dunham. Cherished grandmother of Austin, the late Serena (2001), Dawson, Nolan, and Sophie Dunham. Dear sister of Donna Tedball and Carmen Leggate. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents George and Marion Leggate and siblings Dorothy Nutt, Lorne Leggate, Ken Leggate, and Bob Leggate.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Bayshore, Care Partners, VON, St. Joseph’s Hospice, and a special thank you to nurse Debbie for their care and compassion. Ruth played softball in her youth. She was a member of Wyoming United Church and London Road West United Church. Her many hobbies included traveling, playing cards, gardening, scrapbooking, and quilting. She will be remembered for her famous buttertarts. Ruth enjoyed reading and keeping the historical records for her family and for many local cemeteries. She was also a member of the Arkona Historical Society. Ruth will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, December 18, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Due to COVID restrictions, those who would like to attend the funeral service must sign up at: signup.com/go/SELhBLE.
Interment will follow in Arkona Cemetery.
