Obituary for Ruth Amy Henry (née Widdowson)
Ruth Amy Henry, née Widdowson (24/10/1923 – 13/09/2021), died at
Meighen Retirement Residence, Toronto. Beloved and loving wife of
John M Henry (d.2007); mother of John, Jean (Gina), Deborah and
Dawna; grandmother of Christopher, Sarah, and Adam Henry; James
and Tom DeLorenzi, Keith Barron and Alex Rowlson; and greatgrandmother
of Adriani and Ethan Henry, Anna and Julia DeLorenzi,
and Bruno Maloy and Albert DeLorenzi Maloy. Ruth, daughter of
Charles and Ann Widdowson, was the youngest of her siblings
Charlie, Jean and Jimmy. Ruth was a wonderful mother. She had a
contagious laugh. She and John loved to travel and trans-Canada
camping trips in the 1950s/60s nurtured that love in all her children,
who travelled and lived more widely but always loved to come home.
From the early 1970s the cottage on Lake Manitouwabing, near Parry
Sound, was a summer magnet for family and friends, a retirement
home and focus of fond memories of the extending family. Ruth was
the last of her generation and will be fondly remembered by all who
knew her. RIP.
