Obituary of Roy Prest
PREST, M. Roy
Westville
It is with deep sadness that the family of Merritt Roy Prest announce his peaceful passing on Friday January 29, 2021 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Roy was born in 1952; the only son of Evelyn (Ramsay) and Bernard Prest, of Caribou. A graduate of West Pictou District High School and St. Francis Xavier University, he had a career in social work and was employed by the Department of Community Services until his retirement; his work experiences and colleagues meant a great deal to him. Roy had an adventurous spirit and an inquisitive mind. He was an accomplished pilot, hitchhiked across Canada, loved travelling and photography, was a skilled craftsman, passionate gardener and an avid outdoorsman. Roy’s most favourite hobby, though, was time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, Pearl and Sebastian. Roy is survived by his wife, June MacPhee; his only daughter, Kate Grant (Colin); granddaughter, Pearl; step-children, Melissa MacPhee (Jarrod), John MacPhee (Barb), and Wendy Earle (Mike); grandson, Sebastian; sisters, Olive Pastor, Patricia Bellefontaine (Gary), Lynn MacKay (Bill), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a service for Roy will be announced at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Roy
