Royce Howard Vaughan 1932 2021

Obituary of Royce Howard Vaughan
With great sadness, the family of Royce Vaughan, age 89, announce his sudden passing on Thursday, April 29, 2021, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Lower Wolfville to Leora (Tracey) and James Vaughan, Royce lived most of his life in the Hantsport area. In his early days, Saturday night would find him dancing the two-step at the local dances.
Dad loved to gather all the kids in the neighbourhood for a game of road hockey or baseball. Long into the game, he would hit a home run across the garden into the brook, telling us we would finish the game once we found the ball. We never could find those baseballs. When the grandchildren came along, Dad was always happy to go play outside, have a game of crib or Uno, while telling them stories about walking uphill both ways to school.
Dad and Florence would spend their summers at Evangeline Beach Camping Resort where he enjoyed many games of crib. He loved taking part in the events and made us all proud by winning the Miss Evangeline Beach contest one summer. Other times he would be found sitting on the deck with a western in his hand, reading about some cowboy riding off into the sunset.
Dad is survived by his wife, Florence (Parker); his children, Wendy (Sandy), Jim (Alica), Chris, Darren (Marlene), Randy (Tara), Lesa (Bruce); stepchildren, Janice and Gregory (Jeanetta). Royce also leaves behind siblings, Ella, Eric (Ruth) and sister-in-law, Joyce; as well as grandchildren, Shannon, Lyndsay, Tegan, Andrew, Kai, Katie, Taylor, Gabrielle, John, Susie; and great-grandchildren, Cailyn, Emily, Avery, and Everly.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Arthur, Gwendolyn, Christina, Leo, Shirley, Clyde, and Sylvia (in infancy); as well as one son in infancy, Steven Royce.
We are all going to miss that twinkle in your eye, funny grin, the advice you would give us (good or bad), and the many stories and sayings you shared. We know you are with those who left before you, having a singsong, enjoying a dance, and storytelling, just like we enjoyed with you so many times.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dad’s life will be held when we can all gather safely.
Donations in Dad’s memory can be made to the Hantsport Lions Club, where Royce was a member for 34 years, winning many awards; or to the VON Halifax or Annapolis Valley. We would like to thank them for their expert care and kindness.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). Messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting: www.demontfamilyfuneralhome.ca
