Death Notice
KNIGHT, Roy B.- Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Knight. Loving father of Ted (Karen) Knight of London, Michael (Rita) Knight of Port Franks, Margaret (Colin) Ryan of London. Proud papa and grandpa to Marissa (Adrian), Eric (Frederick), Brian (Yessi), Stephen, and Alex (James) and great grandpa to Kaadn, Deven, and Eddie.
Roy was the youngest of 10 children and is survived by his sister Joyce Meades. Predeceased by his brothers Charles, Leonard, Leslie, Douglas, George, and by sisters Elsie, Catherine, and Marion. Also predeceased by his grandson Spencer. Roy grew up in Vineland, Ontario. In his youth he worked in the family greenhouses where he developed his love for planting and growing. He took great pride in his rose gardens. He had many years of service with the Lions Club. A sports enthusiast, he regularly played golf until he was 90. Roy also enjoyed his bridge nights and “laughs” with the guys. After a long career with CIBC Roy and Dorothy loved travelling and especially enjoyed spending winter months in Florida entertaining friends and family.
Roy’s family wish to extend their gratitude to Dr. Victoria Soo, the staff at Southwest L.H.I.N. and all the nurses and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
Visitation at the Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street at Richmond on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 511 Cheapside Street on Saturday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery.
In order to attend the funeral home visitation and church service, masks, proof of full vaccination status, along with government issued ID are required for those 12 years of age and older. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
