Obituary of Roxanna Ethel Girardin
Roxanna Ethel Girardin – 84, of Bridgetown formerly of Greenwood, passed away March 28, 2021, in Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Herbert T. and Jean P. (Vidito) Wilson.
In the late 60’s and early 70’s, Roxanna, begin her working career as a nurse, until she and her husband, Morris, moved back to Nova Scotia in 1976, and built their home in Porters Lake. She then started her restaurant business, Lil’ Truck Stop, in downtown Dartmouth, which she ran for a few years. She then went on to open a New and Used Store. With much success from that business she then opened The Bold Newfoundland Store and a moving company. After her husband’s passing in ’87, she closed her store and began to sell fruits and vegetables from her truck. Roxanna was an extremely hard working woman. In her spare time, she was a member of the Kingston Legion, she enjoyed working in her garden and loved to plant sunflowers each year. Roxanna was very sociable, enjoyed to play Bingo, meeting her coffee friends at Tim Hortons, and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by daughters, Roseann Girardin (John Jopp); Christine Simms (Wade Simms) and Yvonne Murray (Colin Murray); grandchildren, John (Julie) Meulendyk, David (Sydney) Meulendyk, Shawn Simms, Vic Simms, Scott Murray (Meaghan), Lee Murray; 12 great grandchildren; her companion, George Oulette. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the United Church, Aylesford.
