Ross Reginald Haskell
March 21, 1959 – December 12, 2021
The family of Ross Reginald Haskell are saddened to announce that their father, grandfather brother, uncle and pal passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the age of 62 years. He leaves to mourn twin sons, Cody (Taylor) and Cole (Kelsey), as well as Cody’s children, Anna and Emma, and Cole’s children, Hunter, Kaylee, Emerlee and Dominick. His brother Kelly (Karen) and sister, Claire (Brian) Sather will miss him dearly, as will his nieces and nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews and all of his cousins. Ross was born to Harry and Anne Haskell on March 21, 1959 in the Kelvington Union Hospital and grew up on the family farm south of Lintlaw, Saskatchewan. After graduating high school, he worked in potash then headed to the U.S.A. to work oilrigs, both on and off shore. He eventually headed out to Alberta where he became an oil battery operator, working and living in and around Drayton Valley, Alberta. Ross’s best times were had with his boys; snowmobiling, camping, and taking road trips with his beloved Dodge Charger. They all loved snowmobiling in the mountains and attending Thunder In The Valley races. His oldest and best friend was his brother Kelly. They truly enjoyed each other’s company and loved trying to make the other laugh. Ross was always up to spending time with his sister Claire and husband Brian and had no problem tucking into a good meal then going on to beat them both badly at cribbage. Last year Ross finally got the crib player’s perfect 29 hand playing with Brian. Ross’s absolute passion was photography. Over the years his photos, whether they were of wildlife or landscapes have become works of art. Ross always strove for perfection in his photo work. Ross would have been termed a character with some interesting opinions. If he had been a bird he would have flown in circles since his right wing would have been so well developed. Ross is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Anne and step-daughter, Jolene. Ross’s life will be celebrated at a later date, and an informal gathering at the farm at Lintlaw will be held in the summer of 2022 at a date yet to be determined. Memorial contributions in Ross’s name may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Ross made many, many friends during his travels. Ross will be missed by his family, friends and community. Condolences may be sent to www.affinityfuneralservice.ca
