SCHLOTZHAUER: Ross Daniel, 86, of Tavistock and formerly of Kitchener passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Maples Home for Seniors in Tavistock on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.
He was born in Gravelridge, Perth County (near Milverton) on February 12, 1935 to the late Victor and Martha (Koch) Schlotzhauer. Being raised in northern Ontario, Ross developed a love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, fastball and hockey. Ross was a proud millwright, working his entire adult life in the construction industry.
He married the former Helen Eileen Christie in Matachewan, Ontario on May 26, 1962. She predeceased him on February 11, 2021. Ross is survived by two children, Ted Schlotzhauer and wife Joanne Mumford of St. Agatha, Vikki and husband Bill Mogk of Tavistock; six grandchildren, Caitlin Mogk, Jake Mogk (Cate), Matt Schlotzhauer (Maddy), Tessa Mogk, Bridget Schlotzhauer (Stephen), Wade Mogk (Marley); his sister and brother-in-law, Vikki and Roger Fiset; his sister-in-law, Doris Schlotzhauer.
He was predeceased by six siblings; Don (Rete) Schlotzhauer, Percy Schlotzhauer, Fern (Tom) Doswell, Verna (Bud) MacIntosh, Merial (Harold) Gasson and Gerald Schlotzhauer.
There will be no funeral home visitation. A private family graveside service will be held at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Cemetery, East Zorra-Tavistock.
