Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Rosemary Fennell (Nee Gibson) announces her passing on October 9, 2021.
Rosemary was born in Sligo, Ireland. She married Cyril in 1962, in Toronto, Ontario. Rosemary worked for Eaton’s, and then left Canada for years of living abroad in places like Barbados and Columbia. They returned to Canada where her daughter, Eimear was born in 1970, living in Ontario before finally settling in Calgary where they spent the best years of their lives.
Cyril, the love of her life, died in 1998.
Rosemary spent most of her life doing charitable work. She was appointed to several Government Boards, was President of Holy Spirit Charitable Association, served with Pastoral Care, Inn from the Cold, and many other ministries at Holy Spirit and St. Gerard’s. She was a Master member of Beta Sigma Phi for many years and a member of St. Vincent de Paul society since she was 10 years old, and a member of Calgary Glenmore PC Association. Her greatest surprise came when she was awarded the Centennial Medal of Honor in 2005 for her service to the people of Alberta.
She is survived by her daughter Eimear and husband Don; 2 granddaughters Sydney and Georgia who were the loves of her life; sisters Grainne and Ann, in-laws their family’s, extended relatives and many friends.
