Rose Marie Dianne MacKay 19542021

Rose Marie Dianne MacKay
1954-2021
It is with deep sadness and much love that the family of Rose MacKay
announce the passing of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and
friend. Rose’s cancer journey ended peacefully at the Dr.
Everett Chalmers Hospital on October 2, 2021 at the age of 67.
Rose was born to Leo and Dina (Leger) Porelle in Cap-Pele, New
Brunswick. When she was 13 the family moved to McAdam, New Brunswick.
This was a big transition for Rose, since she only spoke French at the
time. The Porelle’s – a big loving family of 16 – filled the
house on the hill. They stayed close, getting together every Sunday
for family dinners. This tradition engrained a deep value of family
for Rose which carried throughout her life.
In 1974, a few years after she graduated Rose married her high school
sweetheart Willard. In 1979, they built a home and laid down roots in
Christie Ridge where they raised two daughters Elisha and Sally.
For many years Rose was a proud and loving stay-at-home mom. She tried
her hand as an entrepreneur, selling Avon, where she enjoyed the
socializing as much as the sales. She also volunteered as a Girl Guide
leader, teaching girls’ skills and enjoying time with other
leaders.
Once her daughters were grown Rose was more eager to get out into the
workplace. She finished her working days at age 65 at the Wauklehegan
Manor, where she spent 10 years helping keep the residents fed and
their rooms clean.
Rose loved to travel, especially to sunny destinations where fancy
drinks were served. She took many trips to Calgary and adventure
filled vacations to Nicaragua. She cherished those visits
with her daughters and especially loved the time spent with her
grandsons.
Closer to home, Rose enjoyed afternoon Wizard card parties with her
girlfriends and Big Bertha games with her siblings. She loved to
entertain. And was always keen to bring family and
friends together.
Rosie, as many knew her, was quiet and never one to complain, even
during her most difficult days in the end.
Rose is survived by husband Willard, daughters Elisha (Gordon), Sally
(Jason) and three grandsons Aiden, James and Noah. She is also
survived by seven brothers Leon (Lori), Wilfred, Gilles (Shelley),
Russell (Margaret Jane), Ola (Minerva), Clement (Cheryl), Neil
(Rhonda) and five sisters Ella (Buster), Flora (Craig), Verna
(Warren), Mona (Neil), Rachel; a brother-in-law, Paul. As well as
numerous other family members and friends, including her MacKay
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She is predeceased by her parents and sister Mary-Lee Holt.
She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
The family would like to thank Dr. MacDonald and the wonderful team of
nurses at the DECH Palliative Care Unit for their care for Rose.
Visitation will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home at 585 Otis Drive
in Nackawic, NB on Wednesday October 6th from 12:30 pm until the time
of the funeral service at 2 pm with Rev. Terry Messer officiating.
Due to current Covid restrictions, proof of vaccination and masks are
required.
Contributions in memory of Rose can be made to the McAdam Lions
Club.
