Rosarie Mary Hedges 1947 2021

Obituary of Rosarie Mary Hedges
It is with profound sorrow and much love that we announce the loss of a beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend. Rosarie Mary Hedges (nee Lynch) passed away peacefully at her home with her family on Monday November 22, 2021 at the age of 74 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Wayne Hedges and her children Brad (Roxanne), Brian (Bridget) and stepdaughter Crysta and grandchildren Sydney, Adam, and Genna. She will also leave to mourn her siblings who were her closest friends and confidants, Sister Brendan Lynch, Bill Lynch (Ruby), Anne Lane, Stella Waye (Lloyd), Bob Lynch (Barb), Brendan Lynch (Elaine), Andrew Lynch, Gertrude Tubrett (George Tubrett), Judy Powell (Cyril Powell), Gerard Lynch (Rose), and Doug Lynch (Shirley Churchill). Rosarie was predeceased by her siblings, David (Theresa), Theresa Keough (Ignatius), Dominic Lynch (Mary) and her parents, Ellen and Patrick Lynch.
She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren who were the center of her universe and with whom she taught the importance of family values by her ever presence in all aspects of their lives. She was devoted to attending all their activities from hockey tournaments, horseback tournaments, and music recitals. She was a homemaker ironing Waynes jeans, knitting slippers for the family and sewing. She loved being outside in the woods with her family hunting, fishing, and picking berries. She catered to her daughter in laws by making different Sunday dinners for them.
Rosarie was the seventh child of a family of fifteen children. She was often characterized as the practical one, the strong one from whom they often sought guidance. In that way, she seemed much like her father. But beyond the strength and composure of her father beat the warm heart of her mother. It was a tender heart that welcomed everyone into her home with a gentle smile. Her smile needed no words but you knew you were welcome. You were welcome to Sunday dinners, celebrations of birthdays and anniversaries of her siblings, baking pies with apples from her tree and trips to Triton. Whatever the event, you were welcome. These invitations surpassed her immediate family and extended to great nieces and nephews.
It was once written that, “We live in deeds not years, in thoughts not figures on a dial. We should count time by heart throbs. He most lives who thinks most and acts the best.” Although we feel tremendous loss, we can take solace in the fact that Rosarie lived a life filled with heart throbs.
She treated people with kindness and respect and likewise was respected by others. Rosarie lived a beautiful life filled with love. This love will leave her handprint on all our hearts as so much who we are was learned from her.
The family would like to thank the palliative care nurses in Central Health and Agnes Pike from Exploits Home Care for their dedicated care for Rosaria during the past couple of months.
Visitation for the late Rosarie Hedges will take place on Wedsnesday, Novmeber 24, 2021 from 7-9pm at Hoskins Funeral Home in Grand Falls-Windsor. Valid VAXPass and photo ID will be required upon entry.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Rosarie

  1. I had the pleasure of meeting Rosarie many years ago when I came with my niece Crystal (her step-daughter) and we’re greeted with warmth, love, and friendship. Treated with such openness is a true sign of a generous heart. Thank you Roasie. I have never forgotten how you warmed my heart. Blessings to your family; you will truly be missed.
