Ronald Smulan of Regina, Saskatchewan, beloved husband of Sheila Smulan, passed away at Grace Hospice, Regina, on Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at the age of 78 years.
Funeral service from Wawota United Church, Wawota, Saskatchewan on Friday, November 19th at 2:00 p.m. with Roy Bortolotto officiating. Interment in Fernley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation or to a charity of your choice in memory of Ron
Ron was born on May 23, 1943 in Wawota to Emma and Elmer Smulan. He attended elementary school in Fernley and Model, and high school in Wawota. He went on to attend the University of Regina for one year, and then the University of Saskatchewan, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Following graduation, he worked for Ford Motor Company in Winnipeg. After ten years with Ford, he purchased a Ford dealership in Prince Albert, where he worked hard to make his business a success.
Ron married the love of his life, Sheila New on December 17, 1966. They were blessed with twin daughters, Carla and Shannon, and a son Ryan.
After the selling the dealership, they moved to Regina, where Ron was able to enjoy spending more time with family, travelling, and his favorite hobby, investing. In later years, Ron and Sheila enjoyed spending winters in Arizona.
Ron passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 13, 2021 after a courageous, two year battle with cancer.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, Emma and Elmer, in-laws Robert and Margaret (Louise) New, his brother Geoffrey, sister in laws Donna Smulan and Roberta Carpenter, brother-in-laws Marv Carpenter, Matt Glenn, and Vern New, and great niece Chelsea New. He is survived by his loving wife Sheila, daughters Carla (Scott), Shannon (Ken), son Ryan (Lorissa), grandchildren Travis, Matthew, Justin, Connor, Curtis, Carlin, & Cole, his siblings Ken (Bernie), and Garry (Gaye), sister-in -laws Joyce Glenn & Peggy New plus many nieces and nephews.
