Ronald’s Obituary
Melanson, Ronald Douglas, W/O – 76, of Wilmot, passed away peacefully Monday, April 26, 2021 at home with his wife of 55 years by his side. Born in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late John and Helen (Thibeault) Melanson. Ronald spent many hours rock hounding both in Alert, Nunavut and with his family over the years. A Warrant Officer with the Royal Canadian Air Force, Ronald served in many places across Canada, including Chatham, NB, Puntzi Mountain, BC, North Bay, Cornwallis, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Debert, and Mont Apica, PQ. Ronald was a talented woodworker especially with folk art and carving. Surviving are his loving wife, Ann; daughters Elaine (Michael) Terry, Nanimo, BC; Monique (Raymond) Bastien, Yarmouth; Dawn Melanson (Jason Keltey), Meadowvale; grandchildren Ashley (Tommy) McMillan, Nanaimo, BC; Adam (Alicia) Bastien, Lower Sackville; Stephan (Kelly) Bastien, Yarmouth; Jamie (Kayla) Bastien, Deep Brook; Kaylee (Zackary) Butt, Halifax; Trinity Robbins, Meadowvale; great-grandchildren Rosie, Forrest, Elias, Presley, and Lexie; brother Gregory (Alice) Melanson, Yarmouth; chosen family Linda Shepherd, Wilmot, her daughters Anna Shepherd (Bruce Lawrence), Trenton, ON and her children Alex and Owen Childs; Amanda (Trevor) Stewart, Greenwood, their children Gabriel and Willow; nephews Joseph and Mark; niece Lisa Spinney. Ronald was predeceased by his parents. Due to Covid restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when everyone can gather together. Donations in memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses – Annapolis Valley Branch, Palliative Care Fund, or a charity of choice.
