Obituary
Peacefully, with his daughters by his side, Ron passed away at the Belleville General Hospital on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Ronald Irving Porter, was beloved husband of the late Marie Porter and dear father of John; Tony (Sue); Suzanne (Sara) and Arrin (Dave). Dear grandfather to Eric; Brittany; Jackson; Holly; Ally; Gavin; Liam; Corbin; Katelyn; Willow and Teo. Great-grandfather of Madison; Marissa; Olivia; Clara; Amelia; Abigail; Lily and the late Orion. Brother of Rick; Terry and Wendy and predeceased by siblings Jimmy and Jackie and by his parents Jack and Alma Porter. Dad lived a full and happy life. Born in Toronto and raised in Napanee, Dad began his career in the Navy. Upon returning home he met the love of his life, Marie, and eventually spent 40 years at Celanese. Throughout their courtship and early days of marriage Dad (and Mom) enjoyed spending time with friends and family at Beaver Lake, on the bowling lanes and going for long country drives. Dad was an avid sports fan and loved taking the bus up to the “Skydome” with his best friend Dave to see the Jays play. He loved history, especially reading about the local area. He was kind and gentle, taking after his mother, Alma. He also had a wonderful sense of humor, like his Dad, Jack; our house was often full of laughter. Ron was most proud of his family, and deeply valued his relationships with friends, coworkers and members of his congregation. He tightly held onto his faith which informed his belief in love being the most important aspect in life, knowing that when you have it, you have all that you will ever need. We love you, Dad. We hope you are on your way to reconnecting with Mom and your parents, and all who’ve taken this journey before you. See you when we see you, Handsome! A Memorial Service to Celebrate Dad’s Life will be held at the Hannah Funeral Home, in Napanee at 123 Dundas Street West on Friday, November 12 at 1:00 p.m. Friends will be received from 12 noon. Interment Riverside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Lymphoma and Leukemia Foundation at lightthenight.ca/ or the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre at sandypineswildlife.org/.
