Obituary
We are saying goodbye to Ron Millen who passed away from cancer on April 21, 2021.
Ron grew up in Calgary and after university started a career in Accounting. He and Terri (Margarite) moved to Ladysmith in 1979. He exchanged his life as an Accountant for that of a commercial fisherman. and maintained his enthusiasm for fishing all his life. Ron was always most comfortable in the outdoors. Never much of a city person, his favourite times were spent in a snow-bound cabin in the foothills or out on the ocean. Wherever he was, he was always happy to have his friends around.
In outdoor competition, he enjoyed golfing (mostly), and indoor competition brought out his skills a wicked card player, whether poker, canasta or crib.
Ron was generous of his spirit and of his time. If you needed something, help with a financial challenge or help with a repair, Ron gave it to you. There are so many of us who considered it a privilege to call him a friend.
Ron leaves behind Terri, his best friend, companion, and wife of 49 years. He is survived by his sister Terry (Mel), cousins Annalysa, Sandra (Sven), and Diana, as well as nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Special thanks are given to the doctors, nurses and care workers who were so supportive.
Ron has set out on his last adventure on the ocean, this time alone, looking for one more perfect salmon.
