Obituary
GALLANT, RODNEY – Rodney Gallant, of North Bay ON, passed away peacefully in his 88th year on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the Waters Edge Care Community.
Born in Shediac NB, he was the son of the late Ernest and Florence (Smiley) Gallant. Rodney was retired as a truck driver with CN and in his retirement years became a passionate lover of golf. He could often be found at Pinewood Park Golf Course when he wasn’t at home. Rodney loved his music and in particular, he enjoyed playing his harmonica. He was an active volunteer with both his church and community and for many years assisted the Santa Claus Fund in North Bay in delivering Christmas baskets to those in need.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife, Peggy (nee Van der Feer) of North Bay ON; his son, Brian Gallant (Joanne) of North Bay ON; his siblings: Marceline Boyce (late Jack) of North Bay ON, Linda Bowden (Charlie) of Shediac NB, Gary (Koko) of Shediac NB, Roderick “Dick” of Fort Erie ON, Gordon of Shediac NB, and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings; Alex “Dida”, Donald “Cashcou”, Leslie (Claudette), Richard “Butch”, Allan “Canou” (Mathilda), George (Léontine), Arthur “Huckle” (Dorothy), Béatrice Landry (late Alphie), Juliette Cormier and two infants Elsie and Leslie.
According to the wishes of the family, there will be no visitation and no funeral service. Words of comfort and condolences for the family can be expressed online at hillsidefuneral.ca.
In memory of Rodney, a donation to either the Alzheimer’s Society or St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in North Bay would be appreciated.
