Obituary of Robert Ernest Yates
Robert Ernest Yates, 81, of Vineland, Ontario passed away on November 23, 2021 at St. Catherine’s General Hospital due to complications from a stroke.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne of Vineland. His son Christopher and granddaughters Madison and Lauren. His daughter Sandi, her husband John and grandchildren Paige, Elanna and Mitchell. Robert’s brother Garfield, his children Ken & Terry as well as his sister Marjorie, her husband Bill and daughter Stephanie. Brother In-Law Brian, (nephew Douglas), brother-in-law Barry (Cathy), nephews Derek and Alex, brother-in-law Danny (Pat), nieces Holly, Tanya, Angie, Kimberley & nephew Scott, and sisters-in-law Blaire, Beverley and Tracy. He is predeceased in death by his parents, in-laws, his brother Duncan, brother-in-law John Bartlett and grandson Jared.
Robert was born in Toronto to Hazel and Garfield Yates on January 11, 1940. He went to high school at George Harvey and then went on to work for Wagner Brake Company before settling into a successful career in Human Resources at Neilson/Cadbury and then Schwarzkopf Inc., from where he retired in 2011.
Robert’s true passions were travelling the world with his wife of over 60 years, visiting his grandchildren and then channeling his artistic skills by creating custom birdhouses for his family, friends and neighbours.
He was loved by those around him and he will be missed immensely. His wisdom, attention to detail, humour, and memory will live forever in our hearts.
Pre-registration is required for visitation. Visitation hours will be held at Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King Street, Vineland, Ontario on Thursday November 25th, 2021 at 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. Cremation has taken place.
