Robert St Laurent Monday October 18th 2021

St Laurent, Robert – Peacefully on Monday October 18th, 2021, Robert “Bobby” St Laurent passed away in his 89th year. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Jackie, his son Richard (Mary Jane), his daughter Micheline (Dennis) and his son Mark (Lisa). Bob is predeceased by his daughter Francine. Bob will be missed by his grandchildren Jake, Laura, Emily Rose, Samuel, Luke, Alex and Max, his sister Anita (Koza), many nieces and nephews, as well as friends and neighbours.
Bob was born in Cobalt, Ontario on August 29th, 1933, and created strong ties to this small mining community where he lived for almost 80 years. His parents, Alfred and Azilda were pioneers of the Silver Boom. Together they raised eight children, Bob being the youngest. Bob loved to reminisce about his countless exploits. He spoke fondly of his lifelong friends and often recounted his many adventures at Peterson Lake, and growing up in “Frenchtown ” with his “St Thérèse buddies”.
Bob briefly left Cobalt for Toronto in 1956 where he attended Trade School. He married his sweetheart, Jackie, in 1960 and together they raised their family. Bob worked all over northern Ontario throughout his 35 year career with UA Local 800 Pipefitters Union.
A proud “Cobalter”, Bob was hard working and devoted to his family and friends. A true gentleman, his generosity and kind spirit earned him the respect of all who knew him. He involved himself in the life of his community through Cobalt Minor Hockey, Kiwanis and Lions clubs, the Royal Canadian Legion, and many other associations. Bob’s passion for hockey and support of the Montreal Canadiens was well known, as was his love of classic movies and good music. He enjoyed and shared the simple things in life like eating sweets and having a cold beer! If you were walking by Grandview Ave. and saw the garage door open, you were sure to be invited in for a friendly social. Such was the Bob we all knew and loved. He was never
too busy to help others and always had time for the truly important things in life. His family was always his greatest
priority. To know Bob St Laurent was to love him. He always saw the glass as half full and his optimism was infectious. We are all better for having known Bob and we will all miss him terribly.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oakcrossing Long Term Care for taking the very best care of
Bob/Dad/Poppa.
Cremation has taken place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in London, Ontario. A celebration of Bob’s life will take place on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home with the visitation beginning at 9:00am and the memorial service to follow at 11:00am. For those who wish, donations can be made in Bob’s honour to the Parkinson’s Society, or the Royal Canadian Legion (Cobalt Branch). Condolences and contributions may be left at
