ELLIOTT, Robert R. – Robert Reid “Bob” Elliott, 88, of Tavistock, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at peopleCare Tavistock on Friday, August 6, 2021.
Bob was born in Clinton on February 7, 1933, a son of the late David and Mary Jane (Reid) Elliott.
Bob worked for CN Rail for 40 years, with many of those years as a conductor. He was an active member of Grace United Church and the Church’s Adult Fellowship group where, for many years he looked after the Christmas Tree fundraiser at his home. He was also a member of the Tavistock Men’s Club where he was active at the annual Sauerkraut Suppers.
Bob married the former Jean Marie Mousseau in Hensall on May 5, 1956. She predeceased him on December 27, 2010. They were married for 54 years. Together, they resided in the house that Bob built in 1962 at 75 William Street N, Tavistock. For the last five years, Oxford Gardens in Woodstock and PeopleCare Tavistock provided him with a caring home.
He is survived by his three children, Beth and husband Mike Kaufman, of Tavistock, James and wife Giselle Elliott, of Komoka, Paul and wife Michelle Elliott, of Lambton Shores; seven grandchildren, Amber and husband Brett Jackman; Melissa and Jeremy Kaufman, Cara, Amy, Ethan and Natalie Elliott; two great grandchildren, Hazel and Ruby Jackman.
He was predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Viola Elliott, Norman and Eleanor Elliott; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah and Alec Whitfield, Lillian and Ken Mercer and several “Mousseau” brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He is remembered by many nieces, nephews and their families.
A private family service will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Interment in Grace United Cemetery.
