Robert McKinley
1938-2021
OSHAWA, ON – It is with heavy hearts that we
announce the passing of Robert James McKinley, 82, on Wednesday, June
2nd, 2021 at the Oshawa General Hospital due to
complications related to Covid 19. Born in Point Wolfe, Albert County,
New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Rolson and Annie (Houlahan)
McKinley.
Bob moved to Ontario after numerous jobs. He went to work for
General Motors where he was employed for 27 years. He loved his garden
and working in his garage. If your car or truck was broke, call Bob,
he could fix it. If you wanted tomatoes, beets, rhubarb, just ask for
it and it was yours. Bob loved to hunt, fish and feed the birds. He
took great pride in his lawn and hedge but none was as important as
the loving care he took of his wife Glenda in her failing
years.
Bob was a great friend, brother, father, brother-in-law and
step-father. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Crystal;
step-sons, Eric (Sandra) and Horace; grandchildren, Hailey, Jordon,
Jessie and Roland; sister Ardith and his brother Carl (Audrey); as
well as by his many nieces and nephews; many, many friends, in-laws
and especially by Wally, whom he loved like a son.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Glenda
and his brothers, Alfred and Ralph.
The family would like to thank all of Bob and
Glenda’s friends for their kindness and compassion to them
in the last few years. It was really appreciated.
Bob and Glenda will be buried together in Brown’s
Yard, NB, where they will be at peace at last.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral
service will take place on Wednesday, June
16th, 2021 at 1:00 pm, St. Paul’s
Anglican Church, Brown’s Yard with Rev. Christopher Ketch
officiating.
Due to COVID-19 regulations, a maximum of 50 people will be
allowed to attend the service. Masks are mandatory and we ask that
social distancing be respected.
