Robert George Hatheway Saturday October 30th 2021

Robert George Hatheway was born November 2, 1932, in New Brunswick, and passed away from complications from a fall on October 30, 2021, in Ottawa, Ontario. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Donald. He was the brother of Anne, and uncle to Kyle and Carrie and great uncle to their children. He was the brother-in-law of Mary and uncle to Jennifer and Christine (Eric) and great uncle to Mary and Steven.
He was a graduate of London Teachers College, University of Western Ontario and Duke University. He began his career as a public school teacher and then joined the Department of External Affairs. He had overseas postings in Saigon, Lagos, Capetown, Cairo, Hong Kong, Jamaica , Islamabad and Dublin.
He had a long career with the Canadian External Affairs department and his employment allowed him to travel the world meeting new people, enjoying new foods and learning about new cultures. He loved to tell stories of his travels and the interesting people he met along the way. He loved politics and human affairs.
He will be missed by his family and his friends in Ottawa, Victoria, B.C. and around the world.
A Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at #14-215 MacKay Street, Ottawa, from 1-4pm. Please use the RSVP tab below to register.
