Farrer, Robert Thomas Wayne –
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Thomas Wayne Farrer on October 9, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Saint John, NB on November 11, 1942 to the late Thomas and Muriel (Nelson) Farrer and was the loving husband to wife, Mary (Higgins) Farrer.
Bob was an owner and operator of his own transport truck, travelling all over North America on his long trips. For a period of time he was a steel worker at the Saint John Dry Dock. After the shut down of the drydock he resumed full time driving. He was a member of the SJ Marine Modelers Club and was a volunteer with the Canadian Council for the Blind. Bob was not known for his patience but what he lacked in patience, he made up for in kindness. He was the first one there to lend a helping hand.
He was a jack of all trades, he loved making boats and models, hunting and fishing, travelling, and spending time with his family. He and Mary made many trips across Canada to visit with his sons, and they got to see many sights along the way. He was Dad to his children, Papa to his grandchildren, and Bob or Bobby to everyone else. Everyone holds different memories of him, but they all know how much they are going to miss him and how much he touched their lives.
In addition to his wife, Mary, Bob is survived by his three sons, Mark (Darlene), Michael (Karen) and Kevin (Karen); five grandchildren, Ryan (Kaitie), Kendra, Nicholas (Elida), Marissa (Josh) and Amber (Kevin); great grandson, Benjamin; brothers, Alton (Joanne), Daniel (Beth), Richard (Bonnie), Timothy, Stephen (Donna) and Andrew (Theresa); sisters, Cheryl, Gaye and Susan (Emile); one aunt, two uncles, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his two great grandchildren, Rhean Nicholas and Lia Elsie; and brother-in-law, Hazen “Sonny” Weir and Sister-in-law Anne Farrer.
A special thank you to all the Doctors and nurses of Saint John Regional Hospital, Palliative Care and Dialysis Departments.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation will take place. Due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, a memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2021. For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Kidney Foundation of New Brunswick, the Diabetic Society, or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
