Robert “Bob” Prosser
1931-2021
Robert “Bob” Nelson Prosser,
90, of Salisbury passed away at his home with his family at his side
and went to his eternal home in heaven on Sunday December 12, 2021.
Born in Prosser Brook, he was pre-deceased by his parents Mary (Power,
Prosser) Colpitts, father Nelson Robert Prosser, step-father, Vibert
Colpitts, step-sister Annie Colpitts (whom he grew up
with).
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 65
years, Betty (Steeves) Prosser; children Bonnie (Craig) Carter, Danny
(Janice) Prosser, Jamie (Alison) Prosser; grandchildren Rebecca
(Dennis) Carter-Chand, Elizabeth (Chris) Ricci, Stephen (Monica)
Carter, Shawna (Adam) Collins, Mackenzie Prosser, Melissa Prosser,
Richard Prosser. He greatly enjoyed his seven great-grandchildren and
eight nieces and nephews. Several step-cousins also were special to
him. He is also survived by brother-in-law Roger (Judy) Steeves,
sister-in-law Faye (Stephen) Onuluk, step-sister Evie Danahy. He was
pre-deceased by his brother-in-law Douglas (Myrna) Steeves,
step-sisters Francis, Viola, Gladys, Jessie, step-brother
Ernie.
After the death of his father when he
was a child, Bob worked at many jobs in NB before moving to Ontario as
a young man. He worked for 10 years at the St. Lawrence Starch Plant
and learned several trades while there. He met his wife at a Billy
Graham meeting in Toronto in 1955. When he and Betty moved back to NB,
he worked for 28 years as maintenance supervisor at Domtar Packaging
in Moncton.
After retiring from Domtar Bob continued
to work at carpentry and fine wood-working and built his own home and
much of the furniture in it. He was a man of many skills and all-round
“fix it” man.
He was a gentle man who quietly and
faithfully loved his family and his Saviour. He was an active,
faithful member of Salisbury Baptist Church and served on several
committees. He also loved outdoor activities like fishing, hunting,
camping, and exploring the countryside. He knew most of the local
birds, and wild flowers by name. He loved reading, old hymns of his
faith, especially The Gaithers, and Time to Sing and enjoyed listening
to sermons on Faith to Live By and David Jeremiah.
Many thanks to friends, neighbours and
church family who have given support in the past few months and to
extra-mural nurses for their compassionate care.
