Obituary
Robert Angus Blelloch (Bob) was born on January 9, 1918, in Isabella, MB. He was the second eldest child of 6 children born to David (4th) and Mary Isabella (Craig) Blelloch. Bob lived to an amazing age of 103. On January 28, 2021, he peacefully passed away at the Birtle Sunnyside Manor.
Bob attended school in Isabella, MB and later moved to Kelloe, MB. He, along with his siblings helped his parents farm. Bob served with the R.C.A.F. 409 Squadron ground crew during World War 2. When he arrived home from the war, he continued to help his parents with farming, and also worked in Winnipeg at Bird Construction Company and Brandon at McKenzie Seeds during the winter months. Bob purchased land of his own 3 miles south of Birtle. He met Isabel Margaret Jean Grant of Birtle and they were married on September 13, 1951. They raised four children on the family farm: Russell Robert, Angus Grant, Mark Allan and Roberta Jean.
While Bob was farming, he also worked for the Twin Valley Co-op in Birtle. He was asked early on to manage the lumber yard, which he truly loved, working with the community and his co-workers. He worked over 25 years at the lumber yard and once he retired, he found it hard to settle down to full retirement. He started doing some construction jobs around the community, which he thoroughly enjoyed. During this time, Bob and Isabel decided to rent their farmland to Jack Barnes. In 1991, they left the farm and moved to Birtle. In 2014, they moved to Victoria Landing in Brandon, MB. Only weeks later, Bob lost the love of his life, Isabel, after almost 63 years together. In 2017, Bob moved to Sunnyside Manor in Birtle, MB.
Bob enjoyed so many things in his life. He curled for many years at even a young age with his father and brothers and later with his own family and grandchildren, which he was so proud of. Bob was a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s, the Birtle Blue Jays, Brandon Wheat Kings, and the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2015, he took his first commercial flight with Angus and Mark to Toronto to watch his beloved Blue Jays play two games. Bob enjoyed little trips that he and Isabel took to the casinos and always enjoyed woodworking projects. Bob was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion until his passing. Bob had a love for gardening which he still enjoyed well into his 90’s, but his true love was his wife and family.
