Rita Mord Lauzon 1937 2021

Obituary for
Rita Mord (Lauzon)
The family announces with broken hearts Rita Mord/Mom’s (nee Lauzon) passing at 84 years of age at the Timmins and District Hospital on Thursday, December 23, 2021. Mom was born in Cochrane/Norembega, Ontario on October 3, 1937 to Marie Jeanne (Nantel) Lauzon and Lucien Lauzon. Her legacy is her children, grandchildren, loving heart and generous nature. Mom’s spirit was kind, generous, courageous, strong and independent. She worked hard to provide for her family and her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. Mom was able to do it all and was an amazing woman with such strength and determination. She enjoyed so many activities from nature walks, gardening, crafting, blueberry/strawberry/raspberry picking and then making jams to share with everyone, cooking, baking, picnics, time at the lake, playing guitar, singing, caring for nature/birds/wildlife, buffets, desserts, volunteering and ensuring to help those who needed a helping hand. Those who knew her, knew she enjoyed casino’s, road trips, laughter and her joie de vivre will live on in all who knew her. Mom’s door was always open and many knocked to seek support, a kind word, a helping hand or simply to have a chat. She enjoyed volunteering with la chorale de LaRonde, Les Filles D’Isabelle and Les Dames Chrétienne de l’église St. Dominique.
Mom’s memory will be kept alive by her son Brian Mord (Kathy) and daughters Jean Brougham (Gordon) and Judy Mord (Brian Waugh). Grandmother to Rita Luxton (Randy) of Beaver Creek, Yukon, Ashley Mord (Andy Kapel) of Timmins, Keith (Shantelle) Brougham, Brent (Anna) Brougham and Laura Brougham (Chris Gale) all of Victoria, BC and Derek Brougham of Ottawa, ON. Great grandmother to Aidelyn, Ronan and baby boy Brougham who arrives in May 2022. Mom’s fur grandkids, Holly and Mitsy will miss her dearly. She was also survived by her sister in law and best friend Marcelle Lauzon, as well as best friend Isabelle Portelance and many who called mom Momma Mord, Joanne and Dawna were like daughters to mom. She is predeceased by her granddaughters Sarah Mord and Grace Mord, her siblings Rene, Reynald, Roger, Paul, Jeannine, Pauline and Francois.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Timmins and District Hospital nurse Anna, Dr. Li and Hospice Nurses Chrissy and Nat for their care and compassion in mom’s care as she passed peacefully with respect, care and dignity, thank you for your compassion as it will be remembered always.
Funeral service will be held at the St. Joseph Parish at 12 noon on Wednesday, December 29th (Fr. Simon officiating).
