James Richard (Ricky) Boyd
It is with deep sadness that the family of Ricky Boyd, aged 48, announces his passing on Monday, May 17th, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, following a difficult battle with cancer. Born in Sydney Mines on January 27th, 1973, Ricky was the youngest son of Mary Boyd and the late Alex Boyd.
Ricky was an avid sports fan, who followed both amateur and professional hockey and baseball. He was always up to date on the latest stats and scores and loved to celebrate the victories of local athletes and sports teams. Ricky also enjoyed the challenge of weekly crossword puzzles. He will be fondly remembered for his quick sense of humor and kind nature.
In addition to his mom, Ricky is survived by his dear friend, Jolene Lovel and their two children, Emily and Logan, his oldest son, Zack, two brothers, Kevin (Shirley) MacDonald, and Edgar, his sister, Dena (Ron) MacDonald, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Besides his dad, Ricky was predeceased by his brother, Sandy (Kerry) and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
At this time, the family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare professionals at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital who helped Ricky with his battle.
