Mussely, Richard Joseph George
July 3, 1942 – April 3, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Richard’s peaceful passing on Saturday April 3, 2021, at the Oakpark Retirement Community in Ottawa, at the age of 78. He was known to all as a sweet and happy person. Richard was the beloved husband of the late Yvette Micheline Myner for 42 years, the loving and proud father of Lissa Mussely (Daniel MacInnis) and Alain Mussely (Julie Pronovost), and a special Grandpa to Brooke and Cooper MacInnis and Eva and Noah Mussely. He was the dear son of the late Marie-Blanche and Henri Mussely, brother of Violette Mussely and Paula Lessard and brother-in-law to Frank Krasovec and Alain Lessard. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Saint-Alphonse de Caplan, Quebec, Richard grew up in Kapuskasing, Ontario. He then moved to Montréal, Quebec, to study electronics. He spent his career as a dedicated and meticulous service technician at Xerox/Versatec, receiving numerous service excellence awards. Richard was passionate about history, aviation and vintage cars. He loved movies, especially good comedies, and his laughter would resonate throughout the room. He was an avid dog lover and, given the chance, he would always be looking for a partner to take Dolly and Bailey for walks.
We cherish many great memories of family vacations taken with aunts, uncles and cousins, when we travelled across the country, and all the way down to Wildwood, Florida and Margarita Island. Dad was always there to chauffeur us around, or to lend a hand with our many activities. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his passion for life.
An intimate gathering with immediate family will be held this Saturday. Richard will be put to rest next to his wife in Hawkesbury at a later date. Friends and family will be notified and welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
