Richard James Elgie
April 23, 1948 – January 29, 2021
Richard James Elgie passed away peacefully in his 72nd year at the Villages of Glendale Crossing, London, Ontario, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Rich will be greatly missed by his wife Rae (Gurney) Elgie of London, his son, Jamie Elgie, his wife, Brigette and their children Ashley, Carter, Keegan and Christian of Park City, Utah. Richard will also be missed by his daughter, Jeannie Wolbaum, her husband Jared and their son Aaron of Nelson, BC. Rich is survived by his mother, Frances Elgie of Sault Ste. Marie, his sister, Muriel Gibson and her husband, Ken of Blind River and his brother, David Elgie and his wife, Maureen of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Rich spent most of his life working as a manager for Nortel in London, Ontario and in Calgary, Alberta. He took great pleasure in downhill skiing, windsurfing, sailing and he and Rae enjoyed sailing vacations in the British Virgin Islands with his parents, Dr. Richard Elgie (deceased) and Frances Elgie of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
The family wish to thank the staff of The Villages of Glendale Crossing for their kind and loving care of Rich while he was a resident there.
There will be no funeral service at this time due to the Covid pandemic but there will be a celebration of his life when it is safe for the family to travel once again. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Society would be appreciated by the family.
