Obituary of Rhoda Moore
Our mother Rhoda Moore (nee Howells) was the youngest daughter of Perscilla (Davies) and John William Howells. John, Perscilla and their seven children immigrated to Canada in 1927 from Trehelan, Wales. Rhoda was the only sibling born in Canada. Her brothers, Stan, Ivor and Herbert, and sisters Perscilla, Blodwen, Megan and Connie with John and Perscilla settled in Quick, BC and soon after Rhoda arrived on December 29, 1927 at the old farmhouse that still stands today. The family piano still sits in the farmhouse that Rhoda played as a young child. Her mother, father and all of her siblings have predeceased her.
Rhoda married our father Percival Henry Moore in Jasper, BC on December 18, 1945. This was after the war where Percival served Canada from 1939-1945 and was stationed in England. They made their first home in Prince George, BC, where Percival worked for CN Rail. Children of the marriage Geraldine Patricia, Helen Ellaine, William John, and Sherry Ann were all born in Prince George.
The family then moved to Quesnel in 1952 where Percival owned and operated sawmills in various areas of town.
Kenneth Raymond Charles was the last child born in 1959 in Quesnel, but only lived two short years and succumbed to his illness in 1961 in Vancouver Children’s Hospital.
Rhoda worked various jobs in Quesnel over the years that included the Coffee Shop, the Billy Barker Inn, and Weldwood Plywood Plant.
With Alec Wilson, the love of her life, she moved to Vancouver to operate their business Expresso Pizza for five years until Alec retired and they moved back to Quesnel. In Rhoda’s retirement she worked part time at Red Bluff Store. Alec passed away in 1982.
Rhoda moved to Merritt, BC to be with her children Bill and Sherry and for the warmer climate. Later she moved to Penticton, BC where her daughter Sherry had moved. She loved Penticton and called it her home until she turned 85 and moved back to Quesnel.
In June of 2021, Rhoda moved into Dunrovin Lodge and passed away peacefully on October 20, with her children Geraldine and Ellaine by her side. She loved all of her children unconditionally. She was loved and will be in our hearts forever. Rhoda leaves her four children, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Till we meet again.

There is a picture in the paper with some words of my life and death,
My legacy I leave in my children and memories for the rest.
Some folks would think me good, others may think me bad,
Some will remember happy, others may remember sad.
The sun will still rise in the morning and set every night,
The moon will hang high in the sky, the stars will shine bright.
Though I have gone and left all that I love, I am really not far away I am watching from above,
I believe I have built my stairs to heaven, one step at a time,
All the memories of my life I must now leave behind.
For each of you that cared please hold our memories dear,
And keep me in your heart, where forever I’ll be near.
I know heaven’s door is open for all whom He calls home,
I’m with my other loved ones, I am not alone.
Till we meet again
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Rhoda
