Rendell (Randy) Heber Guinchard (90) passed away peacefully on May 17, 2021 at Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Hospital in Halifax, NS. He leaves his earthly body to join his beloved wife Sigrid, who predeceased him in 2005.
Rendell was born in Daniel’s Harbour, NL on May 29, 1930. His first job was in the logging industry where his hard work ethic was forged. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1950 at 20 years old. He completed 2 tours in Korea on HMCS Sioux and HMCS Huron. He considered joining the Navy to be one of the best decisions of his life. He retired from the Navy as a Petty Officer 1st Class in 1977, whereupon he started a business that kept him active and engaged into his early 80’s.
Rendell is survived by his siblings Steve, Jim, and Ina and his children Michael, Judy, Kim, and Randy Jr. “Grampy” will be deeply missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rendell was predeceased by his son Wayne, and parents James and Freda.
Always happy, cheerful and social Rendell was rich in friends and he will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves his family with fond memories of his generous nature, sense of humor, and affection for animals of all kinds.
Rendell will be laid to rest at Christ Church in Dartmouth, NS. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Hospital. The family thanks the amazing staff of Camp Hill for their kindness and excellent care.
