Obituary of Raymond Erb
It is with heavy hearts the family of Raymond Allan Erb announce his passing which occurred on October 31st at his home in Kingston, NB. Born in Saint John, NB he was the son of Harold and Margaret (nee Mason) Erb.
“Go rest high on that mountain.”
Raymond was one of a kind in all aspects. His love, pride, and devotion to his family was blatantly obvious to everyone who met him. Whether you wanted a laugh, a piece of advice, or just someone to bring a smile to your face, Raymond was that person for so many. His love and knowledge of country and western music was his passion after his family and friends. Raymond was known for often referring to some of the genre’s greatest artists on a first name basis as if they had been lifelong friends, which was just one side of his humour. Oh, did he ever have a great sense of humour!
Raymond had a heart of gold, and it didn’t matter what your connection was to him: he always made you feel important and always lent a helping hand. He organized lots of fundraisers for those in need in the community, for his children’s sports, and would happily go without to make sure others had what they needed. Raymond had beautiful, but rare, human qualities which his children endeavour to uphold in his honour. Raymond was also very open about his mental health struggles, and was often an ear for those in need. He was a serious empath who only wanted people to know how much they were loved and cherished. No wonder everyone loved Raymond!
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Darlene (Earle); daughters Natalie Erb (Paul Johnson) of Frankfurt, Germany, and Ashley Erb (Jon Trecartin) of Kingston, NB; sons Travis Erb of Rothesay, NB, and Devin Erb of Kingston, NB; brothers Jerry Erb (Cordelle), Everett Erb (Dawn), and Roger Erb; sisters Lorna Ripoll (Eddie), and Marilyn McCullum (Art); granddaughter Charlotte; and dog Tex. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and countless close friends.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents Harold and Margaret; brother in law Eddie Ripoll; niece Melanie Erb; and close friend Al Martin.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Bewick and Jennifer Nouwens from the Heart Function Clinic, Ken Salmon, Dr. Jennifer Fletcher, and the Extra Mural Program. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). The family has decided to postpone Raymond’s Celebration of Life until a later date. The family will be hosting an open house at their home, once this circuit breaker is over. They will be posting the date and times on Facebook. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Laura Gatien & Associates Counselling Services, a clinic focused on providing mental health services to those in need in the community. For those who wish, condolences may be made by visiting www.BrenansFH.com.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Raymond
