Obituary of Raymond Arbour
Peacefully passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Mitch for 53 years. Cherished father of David (Karen), Jamie, Anna-Marie and Bill (Michele). Proud Papa of Alysha, Sara, Aleigha, Ben and Katie. Predeceased by his parents Edmond and Anna Arbour. Dear brother of Rita Hollenbeck, Eva Benson, late Marie Edmunds, late Julie Halkett, Jos Arbour, John Arbour, Leonel Arbour (Claudette), Paul Arbour (Pauline) and Tom Arbour.
Ray was born in Matachewan, Ontario where he spent the first part of his life. He was a free spirit and often followed wherever life would take him, moving from Ontario to British Columbia where he took on various forestry jobs before moving to Sault Ste. Marie to raise his family. Ray worked at the Tube Mill at Algoma Steel for 25 years. He was involved in many community events with his kids including minor hockey where he coached for many years. He founded and ran the minor hockey Rankin Tournament which will be remembered by his boys and many young hockey players. Ray enjoyed the outdoors and continued his life in forestry. He spent many years in Northern Ontario picking cones, teaching his kids about the environment and why the simpler things in life are important.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Thank you to the SAH nursing staff and the BayShore Home Care for the care provided to Raymond. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Raymond
