Obituary of Ray Louise Thompson
1933 – 2021
It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Ray Louise Thompson (nee Allison) announce her passing on October 24, 2021.
Ray was born in Saskatchewan on March 10, 1933. Her family moved to B.C., when she was eight and she has called Cranbrook her home ever since (except for a short stint in Vernon and Burnaby.)
Mom held a few jobs outside the home (Woodwards, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Econo gas) but first and foremost she was a wife, mother, and grandmother. She also belonged to several service clubs (Eagles, Pythian Sisters, ACW), bowled, coached girls softball and was a leader of TOPS for several years.
As well as being a wonderful homemaker she sewed, knit, painted, and kept our household and us kids on track. Her baking was out of this world and was often the first to sell out at the various community teas and bake sales that she donated to.
Ray is survived by her children Pat (Judy), Sue (Dave Hale), Diane (Keith White), Lori (Al Tiggelaar) and Lynda (Russel Taylor), 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one sister Lucille (Kim) Reynolds and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ernie, son Bill, daughter-in-law Melanie Thompson, parents Roy & Anne Allison and brothers Joe & Jim.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Joseph Creek Care Village for the care and kindnesses they have shown mom and our family for the last eight years. They have created a loving environment and became a second family through this difficult phase of our lives.
A Graveside Service will be held at Westlawn Cemetery on October 29, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. All Covid protocols will be in effect.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
